So, today I’m driving down the road. Go to down shift and when I put it in gear I get no reaction from the throttle. So I pull to the side of the road, turn her off and restart her. No problems. Start back down the road and it happens again so I figure its the fuel pump, but then I start to loose my power steering and my breaks start to stiffen. I pull over again, shut it off, and try to restart it with no luck! It turns over (very weak like) but won’t start. So I start to figure it’s my alternator. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on?
tach works on her. The RPMs don’t go crazy but they were becoming weaker. I know the throttle body was engaging but it wasn’t getting any fuel. I was gonna chalk it up to being a bad fuel pump until the second time I lost my power steering and the brake was becoming stiff. So then I thought it had to be electrical but I read someone having a similar issue due to a vacuum leak somewhere.
Side note: I also learned today that AAA won’t tow vehicles with commercial plates... less than impressed.

By weaker do you mean lower? The brakes becoming stiff is most likely a vacuum issue, check to see if your vacuum hose going to the brake booster has become disconnected. If you have a vacuum leak, that could cause the rpm's to drop, causing the power steering pump to be turning at a lower than desirable rpm... That's where I would look first, if nothing is obviously wrong with the booster or hose, get some vacuum plugs and replace the hose with one of those to see if the engine runs better (just as a test).

You turned the key to the “off“ position but was the engine already off? The only way you would lose both of those systems is if the engine isn’t running.

the turn key system and mechanism in the steering column that engages have been eliminated. I have a toggle switch and push button wired directly in, which I’ve looked over numerous times. Also the engine was absolutely still running but at very very low rpms. The systems (steering and breaks) were still faintly there but definitely being lost. I was able to pull over both times before I lost the engine completely. Also I find it interesting that it’s seemly I lost my fuel pump first.

Yeah, lower rpms. That’s definitely where I’ll start. Still wouldn’t explain the loss in what seemingly is my fuel pump though. This is why I thought it was the alternator. I also forgot to mention that I have eliminated the turn key system with a toggle switch and push button start cause I would have had to replace the steering column otherwise. Thank you, for the knowledge.

Check for fuel pressure. O'reilly's usually has one for rent. If you fuel pressures are too low, it will cause the engine to run improperly. Do you have any emissions deleted done?

Low fuel pressure will stall it out, that's a fact. Should be between 38-40 psi at the rail. If it's below that, you'll have problems. You truck should still have an egr, AIR system and evap. If those are missing, that will cause the computer to do some weird stuff (speaking from experience).
