No a/c

Looked like an over heat going down the road so stopped didn't find any thing and temp didn't go up but a/c went away not just a little all of it

Air still coming out of the vents just blowing hot or did the air move to the defrost? You'll need to put gauges on it if the compressor is kicking in to check freon level. Do you have rear heat/ac? Any cold air from the back vents? When you say looked like an overheat what exactly do you mean? Temp gauge going up? Steam from under the hood?
