Pilot bushing vs bearing

Opened up my 98 302 V8 clutch & flywheel for the first time and found this where I expected a bearing to be. I’m thinking I should just pull it and put the pilot bearing in. Any comments or suggestions?

From the pic it look's okay. I always preferred the old bushings over the needle bearings.
Your's look's pretty wide, do they even make a bearing for your v8 Explorer?

Thanks Poker. Yeah, after doing a bunch of reading last night I came to the same conclusion. I have a bearing that fits (the engine mates to a Jeep AX-15 tranny) but after some research last night it seems that the bushing is a preferred solution. Thanks!

OK, I just have to ask. And sorry for derailing the thread. You have a manual transmission behind a 5.0? Is this 2WD or 4WD/AWD? I need to find out more. I have not heard of such a thing, although I've seen swapping the full-time transfer case out for a manual transfer case.
