Hey everyone, im new here and im going to buy a 77 Ford f150 next week. It has a 351 engine and a 3 speed maunual tranny. Can anyone give me some specs on this truck, HP and Torque??? How reliable are these things???? Thanks in advance
i have a 77 f150 4x4 with a 400 and a c6 auto, so they aren't too close but i'll tell you my luck anyways. overall i was pleased with the engine in terms of rliablity, but was plauged with many electrical problems.. this was do mostly to the previous owner who thought that duct tape and twisted together wires would fix anything. and who needs a fuse box right? anyways overall these are pretty durable trucks with not to much that can go wrong and easy to fix.
I have 2 77's. One with a 302 and one with a transplanted 460.
They are easy to work on and seem to run forever. My 302 has 226,000 miles on it and has only had the lifters replaced after all of these years. Still runs great.
The 460 has over 180,000 mileson it and will still pull the house off of the foundation.
I like the 77 looks over the big mouth bass looking 78 & 79's.

Well is it a 351m or not? I dont think he ever said it was one. I might be wrong, and if I am my apologies. It could have a 351C or W. Let us know scotts77.
Well it has 8 bolts in the valve cover so I guess its a 351M right??? ITs kinda stupid of me to not pay closer attention to this, but it might of had a 4 barrel, but im not certain, i will have to check it out again.
I'd doubt it unless one was added. They never came with one. Only the 460's had 4bbl's back then.
They are a decient engine, They were no high horsepower machine, but they would pull ok.
I would install an aluminum intake like an Edelbrock Performer and an Edelbrock 600 carb.
A good RV camshaft with a double roller timing chain and a set of headers and dual exhaust.
This should give it a real kick in the but and will still get as good if not better gas mileage.
