Basic Data Needed

Hi All.

It may exist somewhere but I cannot seem to find it. At the moment, I am trying to locate the battery size and CCA for the stock 6 volt battery for my 53 F100 with the straight 6. Is there a set of documents on the site somewhere that I can answer simple questions like this?

Kev

Group 1 6V battery.

Available just about anywhere car/tractor batteries are sold:

https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s...cca/960195_0_0

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...y-duty-battery

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NBP7244

https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...-30/11968151-P

Some prefer to use the Red Top Optima batteries. They are smaller physically, and you can get a battery case to make it look like an original.

Nixoid, I buy my 6 volt batteries at my local auto electric repair shop.

And welcome to FTE the best Ford truck Forum on the World Wide Web! Now show us some pics of your 53 and tell us it's history, please.

Thanks Abe.

My dad bought it new and passed it onto me this year. We've had it at our summer place for most of its life. The odometer reads 76k miles (legit). My ******* brother ran it into a brick wall in the 90's and we had to throw a new nose we sourced from a desert junk yard out west into it. We use it like a truck and don't baby it. The whole island where it lives is only 7 miles long so it rarely sees 35mph.The only option my dad sprung for was the heater. Unfortunately, the heater core rotted out a while back. If anyone knows where to find one,bid love.to talk about it.

That's me...

Nix, very nice trucks. And a nice family history. Despite your brother wrecking it, it looks good.

6 cylinder or V8?

Straight 6 with the original 6 volt system. I don't want to change a thing. Even has the original generator which has been rewound.

The reason I asked if it was a 6 cylinder or a V8 is because you are missing he V8 emblem or the 6 cylinder star. It looks like the grille support is missing the pics that the V8 emblem or the star mounts to. On 55 grilles it appears to be floating.

But I double checked your post and you said it is a 53. So when your brother wrecked it did you get a 55 grille?

Yeah Abe. I'm not sure what grill was installed but know it is incorrect. It is on my list to fix but since it looks good, it is low priority. If you know, can you describe or share a pic of the 53 six cylinder grill? For the life of me, I can't remember what it looked like even though it was in my life for over 30 years.

Kevin, here's a link to an eBay sale for a 1953 grille with the 3 pointed 6 cylinder emblem. This one was from a Deluxe Cab as it had the "teeth" on the grille.

I definitely don't want the Deluxe grill.... Too fancy for my low rent deep discount basic F100. Thanks for the pic, it will help when I get around to that.
