Hi all. First off, I love my truck. It’s a ‘19 XL gasser. We tow a 36 ft travel trailer that weighs about 10k lbs and keep a golf cart in the bed while towing. I’m getting about 8 miles per gallon and know it won’t go any higher than that because of the flow master exhaust. What are the options for extended range gas tanks? We are heading to Key West from NC and will have to stop every 3 hours with the gas tank we have from stock. I looked into a diesel and just can’t justify the $65k price tag.
I never found anything besides transfer tanks that are compatible with gas trucks. Figured it's just as inconvenient to pump out of the bed as stopping at a station.
If diesel is too much, but you're open to a new truck, the CCLB truck has a larger gas tank.
This comes up pretty regularly. Doesn’t sound like anyone’s making a tank for the gas trucks. Might be liability, regulations, safety, emissions, lack of interest..... who knows! My 6.2 long box came with the 48 gallon tank and I sure am glad. When we’re on a cross country trip with our trailer, the truck can go a lot farther than we can! Too bad there’s no way to shoehorn the big tank into the short box.
I have a transfer tank with 12v pump to pump over into main tank, welded 2 fittings in fill neck. One goes to tank vent and 2nd to pump. I used fitting on transfer tank for diesel pump, put pipe plug and ran pickup tube and vent out of it. Gave me another 40 gallons, power is wired to upfitter switch. Worked great for 2500mile trip pulling our camper
Aftermarket shouldn't have to build a bigger tank for gasser. There's plenty of room where the diesel Def tank mounts to add another 15 gallons. Problem is Ford has pencil pushers(dating myself with that term) that haven't figured out the buying public would spend a little more for a larger tank.
Even if it was offered as a Ford Accessory many people would buy a bigger tank, the dealer could make a little money on the install and programming.
Well it took Titan over 4 years to get a gasoline rated tank for the F150 approved, I don't see it being any faster for the superduty. You can't do a in bed transfer tank without endorsement and placards and you can't do a gravity feed on a gasoline container because of CFR 49. You are also bound to a container of no more than 8 gallons for transport with a total weight not to exceed 440lbs.
49 CFR CH.III (393.65) 6d; Gravity or syphon feeding is prohibited.
49 CFR CH.III (393.67) 7.4.5.; Fuel withdrawal fittings. The fittings through which fuel is withdrawn from a tank must be located above the noraml level of fuel in the tank when the tank is full.
In other words, the fuel must come from the top of the tank and not from a fitting on the bottom.

The Flowmaster is not your limiting factor for better gas mileage. Also, from what I've seen on here, the diesel will only net you another 2-3mpg better while towing
For the love of god, please don't quote fake New's CNN. Brietbart reported(I will try to post it,) that the # have been falsely inflated in Florida by a staggering, but not unexpected, 30%!!!!!
