Thank you! I was just curious. I generally don't like the idea of the lights being on all the time - just personal preference. Thanks for the information!

My DRL's have been on since day 1 and I have yet to replace a single bulb on the truck. 4 1/2 years and 95K+ miles. I like the auto feature for the headlights.
On the trucks with halogen headlights, they are run at reduced voltage when they are in DRL mode. The models with the dedicated DRL, those are LED (IIRC).
I understand it is a personal preference on using or not using the DRL, but why would you not want to have them on? Riding motorcycles has taught me a few things and one of them is its good to be seen, and headlights make you be seen.

Before DRL’s were brought to market, I’m pretty sure 99.9% of drivers of cars or motorcycles didn’t have any trouble seeing or being seen by other drivers on the road.
If a driver of a car or motorcycle can’t see another vehicle on the road in the daytime without said vehicle having DRL’s, that driver should use public transportation or hire a car service.

If that were really true I don't believe there would be laws making motorcycles have their headlights on during the day and DRL's would not even be needed. I don't think they would make them just because. Headlights on during the day make you be seen. Motorcycles are narrow, small, riders usually dressed in black leather, sometimes that headlight is all they see.
I'm all for motorcycles having DRLs. Some people have trouble seeing motorcycles.
However I don't think it's necessary for all cars and trucks to run DRLs.
