My first ordered truck.

Well I ordered the truck. Thank you everyone for the knowledge I learned from this site. Truly valuable. I was able to get a pco thanks to a member here. Unfortunately dealer said could not use now, would need another one when truck is delivered. Hopefully I can find another one at that time. Might not have gotten best price, but I like my dealer. Once again. Thank you to everyone. I’m excited.

You can use the PCO at the time of ordering. You dealer is either lying, or doesn't know how it works.

Also, DON'T SIGN ANYTHING until you check the truck over 100% that it is exactly what you ordered....ask me how I know...

Why the 10K lbs. GVWR downgrade?

Regards,
Jim / crewzer

Did you ask why that is? Countless numbers of buyers have been able to use their PCO at time of order. Others have recently posted that they were able to use their PCO's even well after the order being placed. I have to think that yours is a case of the dealer not knowing how to facilitate it.

Absolutely double check. My PCO was accepted 6/30 on an order placed on 4/3. Might be worth getting a second opinion from another
dealer. $3000 is a lot of change to leave on the table.

I just ordered a truck and was able to lock in the PCO. My dealer told me that you can use a PCO that is valid on the day that the order is placed or the day that the truck is picked up. I would ask your dealer to take a second look.

Also @SDcrewzer , regarding the GVWR, I was under the impression that max GVWR with the 7.3L was 10k and 10.8k was only for the diesel. Am I wrong? I see the 10k option on my order tag, too, and didn't ask for it.

Page 9 here only shows a max of 10k with the 7.3

What your dealer told you has almost always been the case, and what Ive passed on as true on here.....until recently haha. There have been a couple of members who were able to apply the same PCO on trucks they ordered months ago and wont arrive for weeks still. Eiether way, what the OP was told by his dealer is false.

The F350 w/7.3l should have a higher than 10k gvwr, it must be a derate. Even a 6.2l equiped F350 has a higher than 10k gvwr.

The max 10k and 10,800 would apply to an F250.

Yes, if your dealer will play ball, you can lock in the PCO anytime between ordering and delivery. I locked mine in on July 9th (see my sig for order & delivery times)

BUT! This is where I stress not to sign any papers until you lay hands and eyes on your truck. To get the PCO before delivery, you must complete the paperwork as if the truck was just delivered to you. If it comes in built wrong like mine did, you are stuck with it.

Ahhh, interesting. So if I'm understanding right, in that scenario, you have to sign as if you are accepting delivery of the truck prior to expiration of the PCO, even if the truck hasn't actually arrived yet.

I received a PCO in August of '18 and ordered my truck shortly thereafter. I made the dealer aware that I had the PCO after the price was negotiated. They needed to be educated about the PCO, so I explained the process to them based on what I learned here. They checked with Ford to validate. The PCO expired in October and my truck was delivered in November. I never signed anything until the day I took delivery. Fortunately, the truck arrived exactly as ordered and my $3000 PCO was applied to the deal. It was a piece of cake.

I haven't had to sign accepting delivery The only signature was to formally OK and place the order.

The difference between what ATC was talking about and yours is that you had yours at time of order, he didn't. At time of order should be a non issue.

When did you order and when did you provide the PCO? He was talking about using the PCO after already ordering the truck.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I didn't notice that he ordered a F350. Mine is a F250 so the 10k makes sense.

Anyway, make the dealer apply the PCO. If they say that they "can't" (which is wrong) they might be applying it anyway and banking the extra $3k.
