Question who's got the best chip for V10

I've got a 2000 F250 4x4 ext lariat that gets 13.5 mpg. Its got plenty of power now, what I really need is more miles per gallon. Yea I know everyone says quit gripeing and enjoy the horses. But I have a 120 mile a day comute.
Everyone says they get better mileg with a chip and high octain but do the gains beat the 20 cents a gallon difference?
PS: A little more spin in third gear would be alright to.

I don't know about a chip but I know a guy that bought a reprogrammer from hypertech, he has an E350 van, it screams and gets better mileage than my truck. You may give that some thought. I am told you don't have to open the computer, just plug it in and tell it what you want. I haven't personally seen it. I just know it is damn fast for a big box with wheels. The rest, he claims.

If it's for power. only you can be the judge.

If it's for mileage, may not be worthwhile. Unless you get a true 2 mpg or more gain. That may not be likely given the increase in power. You may have a difficult resisting the added power.

You get 13.5 and pay, say, 1.50 gallon. = .111 cost per mile.

Chip it and maybe get 15.5 and pay 1.70 = .109 cost per mile.

Difference .002.

If you ordered a SuperCHips Tuner by Sunday (10/19) you woulda paid $299.50 from the store. It would have paid for itself in 149,750 miles. Thats if you kept your foot out of it and got a solid 2mpg increase.

Bottom line, 13.5 in very good mileage for your truck.

I thought 13.5 was about as good as it gets. Especially with a headache rack, toolbox and front and rear steal pipe bumpers. Maybe i'ts acredited to my $1.98 forced air induction system! I got an extra mile and a half out of it. Allso useing Royal Purple 5w20 but really didnt notice any difference with it.

Hi, does anyone in the San Jose, Ca. area have one of these tuners? I would gladly pay proper reimbursement for the use of one of these superchip tuners on my 2001 F-250 V10.

I have been wondering about this ? Why don't people do this ? Say 5 or 10 guys go in on one tuner and share it along with the expense ? Is it illegal or something ?

I tried that with the guy here that I know that has one. He told me that the reader pulls the number off the vehicles computer and won't work on anything else unless returned to the manufacturer for reset. Which I am told costs about what a unit costs, after shipping etc. He told me it wouldn't work on mine, we hooked it up anyway, his tuner just flashed error after the first input.

Then again, maybe he was doing something on purpose to make it flash?

Yea I guess that makes sense. You'd think the manufacturers would have to put some kind of anti-piracy thing in their programmers. Otherwise a group of V-10'ers could pool their resources and share it amongst potentially thousands of people. So I understand, I guess I'd be doing the same thing if I was making them. I mean you do have overhead, wages, taxes, shipping, etc to pay. I guess it was just one of those; "I wonder" type questions that you need to ask once in a while. Thanks for your answer, take care.

superchipscustom says that there is a two car package in the works, and there is a dealer package where you can tune all the cars you want. I think its 2600 bucks for the dealer deal though.

And THAT is only if you got a full 2 MPG increase....which is very unlikely based on reports I've heard (at least on the chips I looked into when I had a V-10). I think the average gain is about 1 MPG. Most folks who get chips are getting it for the added power....not the improved mileage. The one guy I knew with a Superchip (although on a Superduty with the 5.4L) said he didn't see any MPG gain with the chip....just more HP.

And wouldn't you agree that IF there was a small increase in mpg that it would quickly be lost, and more with the increase in hp and therefore the dreaded (depending on which side of the road you're on, go fast or get good mileage) 'heavy-right-foot-itis' ??

Don't be afraid to call (770-806-1955). The web price is the lowest we can advertise for, but you're welcome to call and ask about specials.

As to the remark about multiple vehicles, it will work on only one vehicle at a time.

The new Superchips dealer package allows the dealer to retune a microtuner for another vehicle but the dealer charges you, the consumer for the tune (dealer keeps the tuner if he wants to use it on another vehicle). I haven't heard any plans for a 2 vehicle unit, why would they want to cut their sales?
