Whenever you hear about "Deep marine layer", we get a little soaking. It happens a few times in June, but generally not much July through September/October. We'll get up in the morning, and everything will be wet. So even though we are in "wildlands" and theoretically a high fire danger area, the north side of our property almost never really dries out. Things on the north side pretty much stay green all year. The south side is another story; it gets a beating from the sun, and dries out fast; even after one of our June soakings. As a result, we cut all the grass on that side down to the ground and clear it out between 100' and 500' from the house.
Didn’t even get the fly rod out. That creek was mostly dry and I didn’t find the road that I was looking for to get to the main creek. Saw some slow elk, a couple deer and a jack rabbit though.
The big thing was to get OUT and have a decompression day. Looking outside right now and thinking about what chores I need to be working on.
