I ran across this tool this morning. It looks cool, but more expensive than a hobby guy would usually spend.
It heats up nuts and bolts very fast without flame.
Has anyone tried one of these?
Here is a link to it on Amazon:
Looks like a good idea, I guess, but in practice it might be a little bulky and won't access bolts or nuts in tight spaces. Looks like just the ticket for frozen eye bolt nuts in the vise.
Thats really a cool tool, I was watching RoadKill last night and saw Mike Finnegan using that and wondered what it was and what he was doing. Now I Know.
Ill have to wait until the cost comes way down or until Harbor freight make their version before I can get one though.
Nice tool but only good on steel (magnetic) bolts/nuts. Not sure that it would help with a galled stainless bolt but it won't heat it whatever the case. Induction cooktops work under the same principle...bought one some time ago and had to replace all the stainless and aluminum cookware.
Yep, out of my price range. Besides, I have removed about every bolt on my truck already.
If it ever gets to Harbor Freight, I might have to give it a second look.
Old F1, Not sure how you managed that. I see various options for enhancing your text, but nothing that would change font size.
If it'll remove door hinge pins it would be worth every penny. While some of you guys may think it's out of budget, and that's fine, for anyone who does a lot of bolt removal on rusty parts, $600 is cheap when you consider the hours involved in removing broken bolts from castings like that.

Roadkill is where I saw one used as well. Another thing I was taught and helps a lot is immediately after heating, hit the threads with paraffin wax. Instead of burning off like lubricants it will instantly melt and seep into the threads to help lubricate them.

Yep, if there is a way to screw up I can find it. What I was going to post is that Amazon USA has none and doesn't know when they will get some, Amazon Canada has two for 1200.000 each.
Not a total waste though, I found by accident a dock loading light that I had been looking for.
Hmmmm.....First user buys it for $600. The sells it to Second FTE'er for $500, the to the third for $400 and so on. Probably broken down after user no. 6 who paid $100.
So what was gained for the $100 the six users paid? Bolts out easier = more time to work on truck or honeydew. No new curse words invented. Seems like a bargain.
