I just completed the petronix upgrade on my 48 F5, and wow what a difference. I had installed on my 49 F1 a few years back, which was converted to 12 volt before I bought it.

The 48 has been in the family since 1970 and I still use it for the power take off, so all idle time and its still original 6 volt positive ground. I can’t get my thumb off of the button quick enough as she starts immediately. If there’s anyone on the fence contemplating this upgrade it’s well worth the money.

The best part of electronic ignition, especially for 6v, is NO MORE CONDENSORS! A constant problem.
