I replaced a wheel hub bearing this weekend. The new bearing came with studs but I wanted to recover the studs from the old bearing. They were in good shape and some of them I replaced a few years back when I had to do the brake dust shields. I've used a pry bar to hold everything before but I decided to make a simple wood jig. Excuse the crudeness of it and maybe someone has made something better already. I didn't really set out to make a master piece. Just something I could lag/clamp to my work bench to make my life easier. Total cost $0 and maybe 20 minutes.
I just dropped the old hub on a scrap piece of 2X12 for a template and drilled the holes with a 3/4 wood bit and then a few more for the hub center and then used a jig saw to cut the hole. I'll probably post this in the Super Duty forum but figured you all could enjoy this highly sophisticated jig.
