C900 brakes

Hi,

I'm thinking about replacing the booster and lines on my 1972 C900. It's a single system and I don't believe I have any E brakes, so it makes me want to err on the side of caution. Can anyone tell me what part numbers I need for the booster or provide any diagrams?

Is it possible to leave my single master and replace the single piston booster with a dual piston / output booster?

My VIN is C91LVN16456

Thanks!

You should have a parking brake on the tail of the transmission, most likely a drum brake with the shoes internal.

I know they make those hydro-vac boosters for dual systems, but other than searching them out, I have no info.

Does yours have a visible model number on it?

You can get all the internal brake parts but new drums are not available. Although, someone here had some cast. Quite pricey....

I'll take a look. My truck started with a gas 534, but was converted to a 3208T in the late 80's. I think the trans is an Allison, but I could be wrong. I have no operating lever for a parking brake that I can see.

My booster is a Bendix. The tag on it appears to say 2510085. I looked on NAPA and they have similar hydrovac numbers but not the same. Kind of confused on this one...

My brake drums should still be good. Truck only has 17,000 miles on it. Mostly concerned about the lines and condition of booster...

That number doesn't come up, but there are a few outfits like this that might could help.

https://www.powerbrakeservice.net/hyrese.html

Split systems might use two boosters......Or I might be hallucinating. Seems I heard that here some time back.

Was the truck originally an automatic?

As OEM, there would have been a parking brake, most likely mechanical in '72. The handle would possibly be under the dash with a cable, or on the floor between the driver seat position and the door. Again, hallucinations and trying to remember from the C series we had on the farm....

An '80s transplanted powertrain might have come from a truck with the dreaded Lucas-Girling system, where the parking brakes are at the rear wheels. Those don't use a mechanical ratcheting lever, they use a yellow pull **** on the dash. If that were the case, then no parking brake on the transmission, and whoever did the job adopted the "not my truck" method of doing the swap. Jusa a WAG.

Not sure if this helps anybody, but this is the best picture I could get of the tags. I don' see any casting numbers on the body. The booster doesn't look as bad as I was thinking. How hard is it to pull the hubs off to do the slave cylinders?
