Nice intake system
I like the system as a whole but I don't like the fact that for my gen truck, the CAI filter is out in the open to absorb the heat of the engine. I also have to say that I like the design of the solid CAC pipes. Thanks for putting them back on my radar. It looks like I could use the CAC pipes and just the intake manifold. More brain storming for the future.
nice to have those npt ports for methonal injection
well, between the cp4 bypass, oil by pass, coolant filter, these pipes, my warranty scope would quickly shrink .

I like that the 10R filter media is designed for use with diesel engines and has metal mesh on the outside to support the media from the high boost draw in the intake.
They also have this one that flows a little more and seals up against the hood. It has the 5R media for the greatest flow. But the 10R has more dirt holding capacity for more durability and life.

What drew me to AFE is that they have extensive experience with the off road racing scene. Their filters perform well, flow well and keep dirt out of the intake. Not saying other brands aren't as good but I settled on AFE. I also want to do the AFE filter/pump and the S&S Diesel DPK first before anything else.
As for the vented hood, you are spot on. I've had these guys on my radar for forever.

Some time ago, I sent the owner an email and he's not shy about replying back. He gave me suggestions but this is what I will run when I do get it.

This used to be available in black and natural aluminum. So if I had to buy it white, I'd rattle can it to the color I'd want. This would fit right in the middle of my hood. If need be, I could use the metal cut out as rain water diverters for the alternator or where ever needed. I'd put it in the area of the wiper fluid nozzles. I could leave enough metal in the area going across to still use them and install them right on top of the vent. Guys fought with me like crazy about this. But if you think about it, you are giving all that heat a place to go --- up and out. It would have to make the engine run cooler for sure, one would think. Cooler engine, cooler oil. Cooler oil, more life out of it. Water will not hurt the engine as long as areas of electronics, drive belts, alternators etc. are protected.
As to the ports for methanol injection, the SPE CAC cold pipe upgrade has ports in it also. Just FYI.
You sound like you plan on keeping your truck for awhile. Me also. That's why I'm willing to buy this stuff to prevent something from happening in the first place.
I see we think alike.
thats a big show stopper and a surprise in light of all the stock sensors that get transferred over.
phooey
Here's a link that, according to Banks, "Some products, such as intake systems and exhaust systems are not affected by this inspection. But any electronic product, such as tuning devices, will require a California Air Resources Board Executive Order (CARB E.O.) number to pass the inspection."
https://official.bankspower.com/customer-support/california-diesel-smog-check/
Maybe that has changed as I think it has because companies like Banks and AFE have CARB certifications on their CAI's.

You've said before how tough they are down there in the Tri-State area because of the dense population there. You'd think a company like that would want to have EPA compliance in this day and age. I'm sure they sell a lot to the delete crowd as they have that throttle delete spacer. Now, with that said, if a person like myself can see this... I'm sure the Feds do.

I'm glad I don't have to deal with that here.
I switched up my choice of my future purchase of a CAI from the enclosed Momentum HD with the Pro 10R filter to the Magnum FORCE Stage 2 CAI with the Pro Guard 7 filter. The Pro Guard 7 is the most efficient filter they have when it comes to protecting the engine from outside contaminants. Plus it flows a lot more than the stock paper filter. I want to get this because it has more flow than the Momentum HD so you can hear it more when you get into the throttle.
Here's an article on their filter media which is interesting. If I posted it up before, I'm sorry.

They connect odbc connector, put the sniffer i. The exhaust tube....
They do visuals on Stacy items like tires, lights, remove one rear wheel to chalk brakes if they can’t see the pad thickness, etc.
Now I’m wondering if this intake system will throw an egr code on a stock trick.
