I am having some trouble out of my 1992 F250 7.3IDI, so here it goes I hope someone can help! I was driving t work yesterday and I stopped at the store lie I always do. When I came back out I put my truck in drive, when I did this smoke came out of my steering column and I lost all gauges except my speed, as well as lost power. So I tried pushing the o/d off button on the end of my shiftier and it didn't come on. I pulled the column apart and couldn't find any wires that were bad or looked like they might of shorted out. I am at a loss on what to do next.
If you had smoke from the column you've got a bigger problem than a blown fuse. Check harnesses that go through inside the column for burnt bare wires that shorted out against the column or each other.
