I have been looking at Craigslist and Ebay and junkyards for a rear axle in anticipation of possibly installing later model (08+) axles in my 99 F350. What I am coming across is many identify the axle using the code that is on axle sticker. For example, I see V462F. I can't seem to find a decoder for these numbers. I am sure there are other codes or numbers that are better to identify the axle, but that is not what they are using, so I would like to know what these codes translate to.
I am looking for a 3.73 SRW with e-locker so being able to decipher the codes would be great.
Thanks, but I am looking for info about the axle sticker, not the axle tag - stamped metal plate that is attached under one of the diff cover plate bolts.

he states in the video that it will either be a tag under one of the bolts or a sticker on one of the axle tubes.

You are correct, he does state that in the video, but unfortunately he is 100% wrong about the sticker tags that Ford puts on the axles. His info is good about the metal tags that Ford has been putting on diffs for over 50 years, those are pretty easy to decipher. The stickers that I have seen can't be deciphered without some type of chart.
The chart contained in this THREAD is more along the lines of what I am looking for.
Did you get that info from the link you included? If so, help me out where on that page. I may have to look at it on my computer instead of my phone when i have a chance.
Do you know if the 462 has a further deciphering? Or does the revision have further deciphering? I guess my ultimate question is whether that sticker contains any useful information to actually figure out what the gear ratio is and what type of differential IE limited slip, open or locker is contained in that particular axle assembly.
