Misleading charts are misleading..... Those are more code for the different rear end gears, rather than the axles. They in fact give no indication of Sterling vs Dana.

The charts are not misleading. They display exactly what they are supposed to. I think the OP is wanting to know the gear ratios....not what axle us under the truck (which can be identified by a quick glance under the truck and the diff cover)

Yes I was looking for the axle codes on the door jamb sticker. Looking for a 17-19 F350 DRW but want to make sure it doesn’t have the optional 4.10 gear.

Isn't the ratio also quickly, by the same glance at the tag on on the axle? I honestly don't know if Ford gave us the metal tag attached to the diff cover, but I know it is commonplace.

Yes, but you have to crawl under the truck to read it. Not the most fun when the pavement is wet, you're in nice clothes, are too old or fat, or have a dozen + trucks to look at. Much easier to open the door and read the code on the sticker
I have this one saved on my phone for the '90's trucks. Tags are usually missing, damaged, or rusted. Door sticker is almost always there though!

Curious about why you would want a DRW with taller gears.
