Just curious on how many people have had issues with their DEF systems? I have a 2004 6.0 and will be upgrading in the next year and just want to know what to look forward to.
What in your research leaves you with the impression there are problems with the DEF system?
he's asking if there is. historically emissions systems suck, so i get why'd he'd be concerned. they seem to have it sorted out on these trucks though.
i agree with the other guy, the first issue i have will be the last, i'll delete it
Of all the emissions systems DEF is the last one I’d worry about. Easy and cheap to fill, highly preferable to EGR to reduce NOx, and not a wear part like DPF (and less prone to rare failure - my entire DPF failed at 40k miles and was completely replaced under warranty). I wish they could eliminate EGR and just rely on SCR.
no problems with mine - uses about a gallon of DEF per 1000 miles running around empty, and about a gallon every 700 miles when towing. Get DEF at truck stop pumps for about $2.50/gal - so for the 19000 miles I've driven it, I've spent $50 on DEF so far.
2019 F350 and no DEF issues. I love how clean burning my 6.7 is versus how my 6.0 was. I don't miss the noxious diesel fumes a bit. I think people that delete the DEF on their trucks are foolish for a variety of reasons.
