There are a lot of opinions. Do some reading in this forum and the 2009-2014 forum and you will begin to see what they are. Either one is a great choice. The first gen 5.0 Coyote, up until 2017 still had cast iron iron cylinder liners and is a solid choice. Some 3.5 first gen EcoBoosts had timing chain problems and intercooler issues in the 2011-2014s. But there are many thousands on the road with over 200k miles. The best first gen EcoBoost would be found in late 2015s or 2016s. The 2017 got a redesigned 3.5 EcoBoost.
