Talking 1994f150 driver's side pwr window

When I roll up my drivers side window (pwr) the glass just kind of hops and sits still. I will give it a pull and something will catch and it will roll up. While driving on the interstate the window will slightly roll down a bit and create some noise. I was wondering if some of you fellow ford guru's could gimme some advice on this annoying situation. Does any body have any tips on part repair or replacement?.... I am also going to change the door hinge bushings ....any advice is very appreciated! Thanks! brandon

Cool

There is a plastic gear inside the motor that is all broken, a common problem, no need to replace the entire motor, just buy a "gear kit" at your local auto parts store, under $20.00 you will have to remove the door panel to gain access then remove the motor itself (be sure and prop up the window) you may have to drill a 1/2" hole at 3 places which are punched already in front of where the 3 bolts for the motor are in case that no one has been been in there before, then when you've gotten the motor in hand remove the one bolt that holds the backing plate on and inside you'll find the gear and pieces of plastic that have broken, remove the gear and pieces, clean well, be sure you've gotten all the small pieces, then put a generous amount of grease back in. pop the new gear in, and re-assemble!

I've never tried this and don't know if it's true. But I've heard that you have to be very careful when taking the motor off because there is tension behind it and it can cut your finger off.

Take it or leave it, Thats just what a ford mechanic told me

Rusty,

That advice was true for cars of the 60's with power windows. A nut and bolt had to be put through the big gear to hold it to stop the spring suddenly unwinding.

But in this case, with the window up, nothing will happen. It is safe.
