Will a cab from a 66F100 fit on a 64F100 chassis? I'm going to be swapping out the front suspension for a Crown Vic front end, so that doesn't concern me.
1965/66 F100/250 2WD and 1966 F100 4WD trucks have the different front cab mounts and frame brackets for the mounts. They also do not have the tall step inside of the cab like the 1964 and earlier 2WD trucks did. It can be done, just not a simple swap. Don't forget, too, that the vehicle is often registered by the frame VIN so if you swap to a 1964 frame you'd probably want the title for the 1964 frame. Not that anyone except a Ford nut might look at the frame VIN, it is there and sometimes that's what they use to verify a vehicle for inspections and such - not that you'd have to worry about that in all locales.
If you need reference, I have my chassis in the driveway. As it sits it will accept a 1965-66 2wd cab. If you want to spec it against your frame let me know and I'll measure what you need.
I appreciate that. I had heard there was something different about the floor pans of the cabs between 64 and 66 and I was concerned about the cab mount points. I could measure front to back and side to side but the mount heights relative to the top of the frame could be off. I'll see what I can figure out and get back to you.
The reason for the swap is to install a Crown Vic front end and a IRS off a Thunderbird. To have a second frame would allow me to keep my driver going while doing the suspension work. I have a second cab because the "driver" cab is rusted out. So with a second frame I could be building up the final truck while still using the driver.
