So have a mess of mixed up parts, typical ford stuff
first pic is of a booster that is smaller in diameter, came from a 76 f250 camper that has the big dual piston calipers and a 460 engine
the second is a f100 2wd power disc truck.
460 from f250 is being built up and put in f100. F250 is going Cummins.
question is about if the small booster is special to go along with the large master cylinder for the big brakes. If not, does a 460 need a smaller diameter booster? Just trying to save myself work if I don't have to swap the boosters to go along with the 460.
Small booster big master cylinder from f250 460 Bigger booster small master cylinder in f100
I’ve got a 76 with the 460 and can tell you the small booster with the big cylinder for dual piston front brakes is the correct combo.
sorry I can’t tell you the differences in booster sizes but can tell you the Correct master cylinder makes a heck of a difference - mine had the wrong one (smaller) when I bought mine.
Thanks for the reply. Figured the master cylinder mattered for the brakes. Just wondering about the booster. Putting the 460 I to a f100 swb and a cummins in the chassis with the big brakes.
Thinking I'll try the standard size booster and see if it will fit in with the valve covers. If so no big deal, but if not I might have to separate the small diameter booster from the large master cylinder
I would think the M/C booster setup would go with the specific vehicle more than what engine it has. The smaller diameter booster is probably a dual setup inside and the larger pancake style a single diaphragm style..
