1999 7.3 f250 4x4 manual transmission 150,000 miles 2 owner truck. I bought it from my uncle who bought it new.
Truck shut down while driving. Won’t start. I have read through tons of posts on this site and have tried lots of suggestions to no avail. In the last few days in this order: checked all fuses, checked oil level, replaced cam sensor, replaced IPR oil sensor, replaced fuel pump. I’m stumped...please help. New batteries. Cranks over fine but won’t start.
Hi Fing30. Sounds like a nice truck - always great to know the owner and history of the rig.
What oil sensor did you replace? RDI doesn't sound right. I'm familiar with the Injection Control Pressure (ICP) sensor and the Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) - was it one of those?
Can you read OBDII codes with a scanner? (your phone, Forscan Lite app, and a bluetooth OBDII dongle will do it)
Could be bad IDM, relay, wiring, fuel pump,,,,,,, or any number of things.
I know you said replaced fuel pump but is it running, are you getting fuel pressure in the bowl?
Next step is to get a way to read codes, pressures, voltages, etc. Forscan or torqure pro on your phone with an OBII adapter are the easiest ways. Nedd to see if building Hpop oil pressure, getting signal to injectors, and more
Low probability possibility: could it be the inertia switch/fuel cutoff switch? I know it takes a pretty good jolt for the circuit to open, but on an older truck (mine is an e99 man trans) I assume random stuff like that can let go at any time for no obvious reason. I believe it is on passenger footwell side.
your getting alot of good info real fast! Take t slow and easy by the numbers
you replaced the ipr and the cps, are they motorcraft? Cheap knockoffs will cause issues!
If fuel and oil is good, ( fuel pump working ) unplug your icp, see if that helps, if it's full of oil you will need to replace it
Also check the drivers side wiring harness, could be shorting out on the valve cover
Unplug the fuel bowl heater and replace fuse #30 under the dash?
I am gonna go with Wes on this one.
I had the same thing happen to me a few years back on a 5 lane highway during rush hour. Just shut down like someone turned off the key. Unplugged the fuel bowl heater, replaced the fuse, and was back on the road in a couple of minutes... once I figured it out.

just to clear up. I have not replaced the ICP. Didn’t know about it’s existence until this post. Could it be causing my problem?
its NOT the fuel bowl shorting. I already unplugged it.
