Motorcraft oil meats the CK4 requirements.
Again you spend extra $$$ to get the diesel then you don't want to use Motorcraft oil. Why did you even buy a Ford? I hear the the Duramax runs on anything.
Why did you install an aftermarket intercooler pipe? The one that came with your engine was designed for it.
Sure. And I'm all for folks upgrading components whenever they want. I'm sure there are worse oils out there than Motorcraft but I also think there are better ones. If you want to run Motorcraft, that's cool with me but please don't berate me for choosing to run something else. Have a good one
No one has berated you for wanting to run something else. Again, you have misread all that has been written. The issue was, the Schaeffer oil you wanted to run is not on the Ford Approved CK-4 list.
This statement sums it all up in a nutshell....
Schaeffer might say it meets Ford's specs, but till it makes the Ford Approved CK-4 list, most would not use it.

This thread devolved into a big pissing match. The bone sort of did start an uneccesary fight about running motorcraft or nothing with his comment a few days ago.
Outsider looking in here, but it seems that everyone needs to take a step back and put their egos aside.

^^^^^^^^^ THIS!!
if it is YOUR truck, and YOU are buying the oil.........run what YOU want........it makes no difference what someone else runs and pays for.
Here is the STUPID question that has been asked to death. Which oil can I run in my truck? and the answer is as simple as the look on peoples faces. I didn't berate anyone but come on man. The same question keeps coming up and I keep giving the same answer. It's a no brainier and you don't have to ask if its ok to use in your truck. It makes no sense to keep asking the same question.

For one, nobody in this thread asked that question. As for the motorcraft or nothing sentiment that you've said multiple times in this thread now, Ford has a list of approved oils and it's not just motorcraft.
You aren't helping your cause here really. Now I'm not involved with the whole ck4 cj4 Schaeffer debacle, but I'd say again that I think all involved need to step back and chill out. Getting bent out of shape about a question that wasn't asked is just pointless.

I haven't gotten bent out of shape over the Schaeffer debacle. I only tired to inform the one who did get bent out of shape that it might not be on Ford's current list and it isn't CJ-4 oil in the jug, etc.

Wasn't referring to you with the bent out of shape bit.
I'm still amazed the most basic threads, usually in regards to oil, get the most traffic, makes sense. What I cannot understand, is who gives a ****, I personally used to run and am still considering running Lubrication Engineers oil in my 6.7's. The only draw back is it's $38 or so a gallon, kind of expensive to say the least. I was considering switching to triax or something, but I'm unsure if it's worth a ****.
