Got towed home died while driving. Could not hear if fuel pump was running because of traffic noises.
Got it home and could hear fuel pump started right up. Had a maf sensor code replaced maf. Drove it 30 miles and died again after idling for 30 minutes.
Towed home again. Starts up and runs for about 5 minutes. Hooked up fuel pressure gage and it runs at 28 lbs. Stand there and watch gage drop to zero engine dies.
It will start up right away and do the same thing. I am having trouble getting the radio out to check the relay.
Well I wouldn't take any action based upon keyboard diagnoses from afar but that doesn't sound like relay behavior to me. Sounds like a weak/dying pump.
Still, it's only logical to check relay first 'cause that's a far easier and cheaper repair
I am having trouble getting the radio out to check the relay.
Save yourself the trouble, that's not where the relay is located. It's actually INSIDE the CJB and is not a simple plug-in replacement. It's soldered onto the circuit board.
If you want to see if it's a power problem (yes, a failing FPR CAN act as described), then connect a meter or test light to the fuel pump power feed at the inertia switch. That effectively half-splits the circuit and allows you to see if it s a power feed or a "downstream" issue.
Finally got back to this truck. I have a test light hooked up to the inertia switch. The light goes out and the engine dies. So I am going to have the fuse box rebuilt on Ebay.
My question is are all the plugs in the back off the fuse different? There are more than 12 wire plugs. I am afraid if I unhook them and have to wait a week or so for it to be rebuilt then I will forget where they all go.
