I removed the passenger side exhaust manifold. 1 Stud came out and the rest snapped except for the bottom of #3. After a nitemare of a time getting the others out I found I couldn't get my stud extractor onto the only full stud left. I impatiently took a notch out the metal covering that is pressed onto the motor mount to fit my stud extractor onto the bottom stud of #3. In hindsight I should have put some heat on it and bent it.
I hope I didn't do too much damage. Another lesson. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks
I see I can get this part from $83 on up. Recommendations?
Now I just need the procedure. The aftermarket manual has a lot of things being undone to lift the motor but I have seen the posts and videos of jacking the motor to help in the manifold replacement. Is that high enough to get this out without undoing the transmission mount and D/S mounts? I have all the space there now since the manifold is out.
Thanks,
That's what I thought also as I was full steam ahead at that last stud. That looks like a heat shield since the header it right here. Let me just notch this out and I'll put some of that heatshield tape over it.
I would like to get some more feed back before I start that manifold install.
Hate for it to be something to do with vibration and find out after damage occurs.
Before I quit for the night... if you're worried about vibration with a V10, you're driving the wrong vehicle - Just kidding... that looks like it shields the rubber in the mount.
