Engine swap

I have 89 f150. Im needing to put a mechanical fuel pump on it. So my question is will a 83 302 for a f150 work? Right now I have a 91 302 with a 4bbl in it. I keep having fuel issues an feed up with it, so I'm wanting to go old school all the way. In other words take the computer out of the truck all together. Thanks for your help

Confused. What is your current fuel supply setup? If you need a mechanical fuel pump then you just have to install a 302 timing cover with the fuel pump boss and install the pump and lines, no need for an engine swap.

I'm running on the low pressure pump that's in tank, on my 89 f150. But will I have to change the cam are what would you suggest? I know I have to replace the fuel line's an tank for the mechanical pump to work.

I’m right there with you. What sort of yearly fuel problems? A carb still using the high pressure pump isn’t going to work.

The feul pump keeps losing power. I took the high pressure pump out three years ago. When I started the build. It will run fine for a few months then it will shut down. While it did it for the last time.

No engine changes needed and I'm not sure why you think there would be. Oh wait.. are you a former chevy guy? If so that explains it. On a Ford motor the mechanical fuel pump eccentric is bolted to the front of the timing set it's not ground into the cam. And yes that applies to an EFI motor too... at least if it's all original, for whatever reason Ford left the eccentric in there and even if your motor doesn't have one you just have to find one and put it on.
