2015 stalling out

Hey everyone.

My name is Cameron, I'm new to the group. I drive a 2015 F150 Lariat with the 3.5 EcoBoost. Yesterday when I was turning right at a stop sign, my truck stalled out. On the dash, the warnings for check manual and hill descent fault flashed, and the truck grinded to a halt. I waited 20 seconds and started it up again (it took longer to start than normal) and afterwards it ran just fine. I was planning on taking it for a long drive today to see if it acted up again. Has this happened to anyone else?

The truck has a decent amount of upgrades, including an SCT Tuner with a 5 start tuning 91 octane performance tune. I cant imagine that would be causing it but I'm open to anything.

Thanks in advance

Maybe spark plugs? Try checking them, I know that's a fairly common reason for stalling. As for the "I can't imagine that would be causing it", be careful, if you say it's not the cause, it often ends up being the cause, so hush But yeah, check the spark plugs

If it is the OEM battery, I would replace it. I've always replaced my batteries at 4 years old.

The Lariat 'should' let you know the battery is getting weak. At shut down mine would put the message on the radio screen 'Shutting down to conserve power' (or something to the nature.

Biggest thing is did you get a check engine light/error code? When mine would just die like that it was the throttle body.

The check engine light never came on, No codes came up up on my chip when it stalled. The spark plugs should be good. The truck only has 36k miles on it and I swapped the plugs out to iridiums at about 25k miles. I will swap the battery out though, it is the OEM battery. Thanks for the input everyone

There have been more than a few failed battery posts here, mine included. It lasted exactly 2 years and about 25k miles.

may want to at least check the battery voltage (both running and not running) to see if that is the cause. If it’s not charging when running, that would point to an alternator issue. Don’t want to stick a new battery in if the alternator isn’t charging properly

Same problem, issue ongoing for almost a year now

Had the same issue happen except it happens when I get to a stop, for instance at a light... happened a few times last fall brought it to my mechanic... changed the battery. Went away for a short time but came back sporadically... changed plugs and cleaned throttle I believe. Didn’t do much though. Still happening now and does it about everyday. Actually as I sit in my truck in park with it idling it’s stalled out 3 times already - rumbles pretty good and tries to restart itself it seems only to die out but leave the accessories on. Seems to happen when Im stopped or near stopped, which includes braking in drive or reverse... usually when RPM is at the first half hash mark. Brought it to ford dealer of course the one day apparently it didn’t happen so they couldn’t see anything. Looking to bring it back but also worried it might be on a day this issue isn’t happening.

Try disconnecting the Battery Maintenance System.

check for codes?

check air filter and housing for clogs (had a chipmunk or something make a huge mess in my air box with a chewed up filter)?

clean your mass air flow sensor?

Maybe take a video the next time that it happens to show the dealer.
