I always know where to go when I NEED help. havnt visited in quite awhile. I guess that's good! HA
So my 1997 F350 7.3 auto with 541K on her has been running better than the day I purchased her.
BUT today she wont start. new batteries (still tested to be sure), starter has been turning over with no issues.
so I go to start the truck and I got nothing. I hear a slight double click at the starter but that's it. the part that has me scratching my head is...once I try to turn it over Im getting no power to any part of the truck. lights, windows, dash lights odometer ect…
and I mean NO power. but if I come back in a few min ill have the power back. but still a no start. I did put a test light on the ignition wire at the solenoid that's on the firewall which checked out good.
hope you all can help.
with no power to lights or other electrical stuff it is probably a bad connection somewhere. Have you check the grounds to make sure they are all tight?

thanks for the info. where would I find grounds on these trucks
any hidden ones? I know there is one on radd support.

I agree with this. Follow your battery ground wire to where it goes to the engine block. Check cables at the batteries again. Neutral safety switch will keep the starter from turning because it does dot send power to trigger the fender relay but as far as I know it will not cause a no lights problem.
I'd start by pulling the battery cables and cleaning the posts and the inside of the clamps on the battery cables. That black corrosion can block the currant to the rest of the truck. Also check the cable from the battery to the fender relay to make sure it is in good shape. Then check the fender relay for a loose nut on the side that has multiple wires on it, as Ford used that post for the junction to get power to the rest of the truck.
thanks for all the replies...
CULPRIT. bad passenger side battery cable.(+)
Ive been putting off changing them. one of those things you look at and say. ya..."someday"
thanks again
