Andersen W/D Hitch

I recently ordered an Andersen W/D hitch for a bumper pull trailer. I tow a relatively small trailer, just shy of 7k lbs GVWR, with a F250 6.2. I've towed it a few times without any sway control or weight distribution and it did ok, but I wanted to start bringing a motorcycle in the bed so evening out the axle weights would be a good thing, the built in sway control was a bonus. I decided on the Andersen because of the adjustment of where the bracket could be placed on the trailer's frame.

The hitch arrived and I got it installed a couple of weekends ago. It makes no noise and seems to do it's job fairly well, as advertised. My one disappointment was the use of shackles stamped 'China' which connect the chains to the hitch plate. I work with rigging a lot and we don't allow these types of shackles on our job sites so I decided to replace them with an equivalent from Crosby. If anyone else is looking to do the same, Crosby's G-210 3/8", 1t WLL shackle is a direct replacement.

I'm not trying to start a debate about whether the shackles that came with the kit would have actually failed. There are plenty of kits out there and I haven't come across people posting about failures so I'm sure they're holding up just fine. I replaced mine because of what I've been taught about rigging and potential failures, it was for my own piece of mind. I just wanted to post about an 'issue' I noticed and my solution. If you have an Andersen hitch, I'm not going to preach and say you should immediately replace yours, your circus, your monkeys.
