Need some help guys have a 97 f350 7.5 2wd transmission took a crap on me does any one know what models and years have a comparable e40d thanks in advance
Any 1995 to 1997 F-Series or E-Series 4x2 with a 7.5L is compatible. Nothing else is. An earlier trans from those models would be compatible if you change the solenoid body to a 1995 or newer.

'Took a crap' is kinda vague is there any chance of rebuilding it? What happened to the poor thing?
Probably can rebuild it but costs to much to have it done.i know absolutely nothing about transmission so trying to find one at a you pull it,so if I find say a 78 with a 460 I can use the transmission if I change the solenoid pack out?thank you btw.
1989. However you don't want it (far too many internal weaknesses and you need an expert among experts to fix them correctly. Even half of those select few, will tell you not to bother lol. I just made that last part up, though I wouldn't be surprised if it were true.) Look for a '90-94 and swap the pack or a 95-97 for direct replacement.

It's rare that without doing some diagnosing and some teardown that you can just condemn the transmission from the outside and actually be right about it ...

This.....
Far too many times someone has replaced their E4OD to find the problem still exists.
What are the symptoms and what codes have you gotten when running the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests and Stored Code display?
