2002 4.6 differences

What are the differences in the 4.6 engines built in 2002? They call for 2 different head gasket kits. This is the code W Romeo I am referring to. The ones built after October are different than the ones prior? Thanks in advance.

Depends on what heads are on those two engines. One calls for a thicker head gasket than the other even though they are both W Romeo engines. You need to get the number off the heads and have Ford tell you if they are the same or which one uses which head gasket.

Most head gaskets for the 4.6 are 0.03 to 0.06 in thickness depending on who made them and all that goes with that. Now there are those that go to around 0.12 thickness as well. Even if the engines are 2002 engines, that does not mean the heads are.
