Dual batteries

Just got a 2003 F250 with 6.0 diesel and noticed that the negative cable on the driver side battery was dis-connected. Is there a good reason for this? TYIA

You're going to want to reconnect that... A battery with just one connection isn't doing it's job

Make sure you check the status of that battery before you connect it, these things need good power! I'd say minimum of 850cca each, and that's for a southern climate.

Like he said.
The batteries are connected in parallel, so if one is weaker, it will pull down the other.
If you have a load tester, use it first to ensure they draw equally.

This is also true of dual alternators.
A clamp type DC ammeter will show if they are both equal.
