What do you guys think about the new 7.3L gas engine? Anybody have one that can tell me what they think? I am looking to order a new truck and am thinking hard about the 7.3L. Any idea what kind of gas mileage it gets? Thanks for any input.
My uncle loves his. Lots of power. Swears it gets better gas mileage around town than his 2015 half ton Silverado. There are other threads here that cover this subject.
I love it.
I have driven a 6.2 for 9 years. Upgraded to 7.3 with 4:30 gears and Tremor.
The power and acceleration so far is night and day.
Way more grunt and throttle response than my 6.2. Haven’t towed yet.
It might help...a lot...if you let us know what you want from the truck. Will you be towing? Utility, camper, boat? Hauling, landscaping? Or will it just be a grocery getter (hey...we don't judge around here)?
I have 2000 miles on a 2020 F450 cc cab and chassis and pulling a trailer around town gets between 8-9 mpg. Highway empty and no trailer it got 13 doing 75. I have 4.88 gears. For a big gasser I have no complaints as far as mpg goes. The power is great. Puts the v10 to shame I think. And I love the 10 speed auto transmission. Has a gear for every situation and shifts nice and crisp
I’ve been very interested in the 7.3 as well. I go back between gas or diesel. I do a lot of driving (95%) unloaded all over Texas for work so fuel economy is a mild concern. Just don’t want to be disappointed on each side between maintenance of the diesel or economy of the gas.
Love mine so far, 1400 miles. I get better mpg than my previous 6.2's and all with more power. I'm really impressed so far. I used to be a diesel guy, this is my favorite truck to date.

what gearing did you go with? I’d run a leveling kit and 35s
My 7.3 seems to be getting 1- 2 mpg worse than my 2016 F250 6.2 got empty. I wanted the tremor so I got forced into the crew cab and the 7.3. The 7.3 seems to be getting slightly better mpg while pulling my car trailer with a small tractor on it.

I don't know what gas/diesel prices are like in Texas...but here over the past several years, diesel has always been 60-cents to $1.00 more per gallon than 87 octane. It's cheaper for me to drive my 6.2L at 13mpg than it is a diesel at 18-19mpg. But it all depends on your prices...

My truck was already built on a lot, and it has the 3.55, I wish it had the 3.73 that is in F350's. If you're going to run heavier 35" tires, the 4.30 gear is probably your best bet especially if you ever plan to tow anything.
I was close to one of the first folks to jump on the 7.3 10 speed. I smile ever time I drive the truck. In my stop and go signal infested 6 mile drive to work or 2 mile drive to Home Depot I'm averaging 11 mpg. I have a Tremor so it's really not designed to get that last 1 or 2 mpg out of the 7.3.

That's about what I get with my 2001 F250 with 5.4L.

thsts what I’ve read. I’d be curious to hear experiences with the 3.75. Seems like everyone gets the 3.55 or 4.30. As for fuel prices they range from 1.50 to 1.99 down here in Texas. Diesel from what I’ve seen has hovered around 2.45
