Got All The Windows Tinted

Got a friend that does tint, so got it done on the cheap. $200 install fee, done in about 3 hours, used my product.

Tint used: Global QDP Ceramic. 70% on Windshield / 50% on Front Doors / 5% on everything else. Did NOT tint the Sunroof.

VLT Before & After, Metered with Laser Labs Inspector 2: Windshield 77/61 / Front Doors 79/49 / Rear Doors 25/00 / Back Glass 27/00.

Obviously I can see out the back windows, but it's just too dark for the Meter to register.

How do you get by having the windshield tinted?

Because it's only 70% and not noticeable.

Funny... I literally just dropped off my truck at the window tint place and then saw this thread. Getting the front windows done and an eyebrow across the windshield. Also having the bottom portion of the truck wrapped in grey for a 2-tone look. Supposed to be done in a few hours.

How about a side shot of the whole truck? Your front windows are lighter than your rear windows? How does that look?

So how do you get away with 49% on the front side windows when the minimum is 70%? Seems like the dark front side windows could get you stopped, then when the windshield is measured at 61 that could be a problem too. Don't know how strict window tint laws are enforced in your area but some places are real sticklers.

i'm having my windshield replaced and going with the usual 75 ceramic on it with a limo strip....anyone have 50% instead? it doesn't help anymore with heat but privacy would be nice. BUT is it too dark? the rest of my windows are 25%

I’ve been driving around for probably 6-8 months with 35% on my whole windshield and 15% on my front windows, I LOVE it. Keeps the truck a lot cooler inside and privacy is nice.

Real sticklers

I've found in my area Tri Cities TN, it has to do with the type of vehicle.
I just recently went 5% on my fronts, down from 20%. I've got 5% over factory privacy rears.
Fueling up at Shell Station. Rice burner pulls opposite. Cop pulls in to get fuel, walks over tests rice burner tint, lights him up.
After ticket walks over to me asks if I have a level kit. Nope snow plow package. Admires the big Ford, tells me to have a nice day

That's quite accurate, around here as well. If you have a loud ricerburner with peel and stick limo tints, you're bound to get pulled over a bunch for it. I did have a friend with a 2016 f250 get pulled over a few times though but it was a real attention grabber. His truck had a 6" lift, 26" American Force wheels, all color matched white/metallic purple, and his windows were insanely dark (5% all around even on his windshield). He also had some custom built headlights with Rigid Industries pods.

And its not like the cop wrote the ticket in 5 min. I'm thinking we'll im next so I fueled up, went inside grabbed a 25oz Bud Light and a bag of Cheez Itz ,WAITED in line, came back out and put the 25oz's in my cup holder......then he asked me
Edit.....just thought this was too much in the original post

how is it to view thru the tinted windshield a night? does it adversely effect the view minus just the darkness?

I've had many vehicles tinted since 1998 (22 new black vehicles mostly Ford trucks) including 3 houses. We fought here in our state to get it removed from the inspection laws. It is unbelievable to me that anyone would want to reduce their vision out the front windshield! If you get in any vehicle incident the lawyers will eat you alive!!!!! I have always said " NAKED GLASS SUCKS" BUT the windshield tint is a bad idea. Don't worry you look cool being irresponsible! My friends and family ride motorcycles and all we hear is I didn't SEE you! Don't forget to let your insurance company know you have tint on the windshield so they can adjust/drop your coverage.....

Try this go for a ride at dusk just after sun set with dark sun glasses. Your eyes need light to see tint blocks light. Driving a motor vehicle and reducing you vision is just......wow!
