we-can say Our prayers are with those who remember those who we have lost during service to this country.

my sister died while serving this country . September 1977. Never forgotten and her sacrifice made a difference.

My prayers are with those who never came home.
Amen! The day is sacred and the word "Happy" is never to be used as a prefix. It is also not the day to honor active or veteran service members. Its not the day to honor service members who died outside of active duty, that is in November and is associated with Veterans day.

I disagree I am happy that I don't have to speak German or some other language. all because many paid the price for me. I also think every day is the right day to honor our vets.

You guys are correct. I now saw how the Ruff Stuff email I posted had "Happy" Memorial Day in it. But their sentiment was correct in the email. I believe in what you guys are saying. If people take pause and reflect on why they are able to have a long weekend, got bombed for 3 nights or how many they do drink, smoke, etc, then it's okay IMO. But I believe many do not and they associate the "Happy" with the long weekend having fun which IMO is wrong. The day is for reflection on the sacrifices that some gave all, all gave some. While I realize that Memorial Day is for the ones who didn't make it home and Vets Day is for the living, as long as you reflect on why we are free and why we are the greatest country in the world, realize that freedom is not free and why we need to respect our military members, than the purpose was served. But sadly there is a lot of people that this idea is lost on.
