What am I missing
76 reads but no replies yet, so I'll see if I can get things started. Might be helpful to know if this is your 02 ranger & if so, which engine, tranny & body style does it have, so we can better guess what we're looking at in the photos????
Also, did this problem come about suddenly after some event????
Scan for trouble code clues & post All trouble code Numbers, as they can often help focus a trouble shoot, in case a member can't ID the items in the photos, the systems affected might help ID the vacuum connection we're looking at..
All that said, looking at the photos, it seems to me that the item with the hole showing at the 12:30 position looks to be cut off from & maybe goes the item circled, at it's 4:30 arrow point position ????
In the meantime until you get it fixed, you could use a metal or wooden dowel to plug the item that's sucking vacuum, as that vacuum leak is likely corrupting the air / fuel mixture so lean the computer can't compensate, so you'll likely have lean trouble codes because of it.
After fixing the vacuum leak & writing down the trouble codes, disconnect the battery B- cable & open a door, or turn on the headlight switch, or push the cigar lighter in, to add some resistive load to more quickly wipe the KAM memory of the corrupt fuel trim tables this vacuum leak has caused. Then turn off All electrical loads so you don't get a spark when reattaching the B- cable.
Let the engine Fully cool down, then follow the cold & warm idle relearn sequence in this post, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...9&postcount=12, to help avoid drive-ability problems when restarted after the battery disconnect / KAM wipe, as the cold & warm idle strategy also gets wiped with the battery cable disconnect.
Some beginning observations & thoughts for consideration, post more info about how the problem came about, along with the engine, tranny & body info & maybe the forum can make a more focused & helpful guess. .

I'm not familiar with the 02 4banger engine vacuum plumbing, so I'm not going to be of any more than general help, but maybe a member reading this, with your year / model engine, will chime in with some instructions, or maybe photos of where things go & where & what to look for. Let us know how it goes.
