NP208 shift pattern reversed
I've seen this issue raised elsewhere without resolution. I just picked up an 83' Bronco (my first 4WD) and I'm confused by the shift pattern. It has an NP208 transfer case that is bolted directly on a auto C6 transmission. Here's a description of how the transfer case is currently operating:
1st position (closest to seat/all the way back) - 2H
2nd position - 4H (4x4 light on)
3rd position - N
4th position (closest to dash) - 4L (4x4 light on)
I've verified that the auto hubs are not engaged and that the front drive shaft easily rotates in 2H and N. The N position is obvious given that the truck just rev's regardless of the trans shift position. In the forward-most position, the transfer case won't engage into what I think is 4L, but the 4x4 light comes on. The user manual and shift **** say the order is: dash to seat 2H 4H N 4L
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
