is there any way to make the heated mirrors stay on? they turn off after 5 minutes, which is pretty dang useless.
i would much rather they stay on until i turn the ignition off.
is this possible to do?
Not sure about your year (earlier designs used a thermistor type setup) , but you might want to go into the APIM Module (Sync) or other module (e.g. Body Control, FCIM) with IDS, Forscan, etc and alter the appropriate HEX values for your year........ if that value (mirror heater timer or timeout) is available, be especially careful configuring / reprogramming these as SYNC in particular (APIM) is flaky in the first place........the relay on newer models is in the FCIM at address 7A7-01-02
I generally don't like running "heated" stuff longer than design thresholds (the Ford timeout) as you never know about AWGs, relay specs etc -- seen these problems on Ford's engine block heaters for example (with cheap wiring).....
how about in dummy terms?
i have no idea what i just read.
the heated mirrors being on all the time is not a problem.
my old 2005 kenworth had them on whenever the key was on, and they still worked when we sold it with 300,000 miles on it
same with the older trucks. the 06 F350heated mirrors were on if the key was on and never have any issue with them either.
Do you have a rear window defroster? If so, the on/off button for the rear defroster should also control the heated mirrors (so both would be on at the same time)
