D-60 Trac lock. Fluids

Have a 4.10 Dana-60 from a 79 F350. Changing fluids brakes, etc. etc.

seems like a no brainer but does it require limited slip diff fluid or additive? Knee jerk is to put some in but hate to be wrong. Maybe my searches are off as I haven’t found the answer.

If you rebuilt it with new clutch discs then I’d say yes you will probably need some but if it’s the old worn out limited slip discs I wouldn’t worry about it. The worst that could happen is you might get a bit of chatter from it on corners but I really doubt it. Some new oils have the additive built in too.

Like J says if you have some wear a hypoid oil will probably do the job. if it's newer or you want to be sure get some friction modifier at your local parts house and be done with it. I normally use it on my posi units.

Yeah, it’s been rebuilt at some point, it’s pretty tight I removed the cover to drain the fluid and do the brakes. Looks like new Thank you much
