I have a 2000 F250 Superduty Stroker. Is there an AC/Heater cabin air filter in there somewhere? If not, can one be installed and where would be a good place to attempt it?
Not from the factory. I think I remember someone putting one in behind the blower motor or hacking up behind the glove box (?) I'll see if I can find the write up of it.
Thanks CousinCarl,
I tried the search function on the site but didn't find much help. I was thinking of somewhere around the blower motor from under the hood and was hoping someone may have figured a good way to do it before I start my attempt to install a filter. Reason being is mainly the wife has asthma.
BTW...We are going to Haltom City near Ft. Worth sometime this summer.
The trucks did not have one but I remember reading that the Excursions did and there used to be a retro-fit you could do from Ford but I believe that has been obsolete/discontinued for years. If you find out something different let us know.
Thanks CousinCarl,

Well, I struck out. I know I've seen it done somewhere. In my search, however, Cabfresh offers an aftermarket kit to install under the cowl into the HVAC system apparently. From what I read many say it's not worth the trouble (Ford apparently also used to list them in their catalog but had so much trouble and complaints they stopped from what I read) but if you care to investigate further... I have seen the evaporator almost completely blocked with dog hair and dirt. The blower motor and evaporator cover had to be removed to adequately clean it (PITA!!!).
First, I just reached through the blower motor opening and peeled of the outer layers of debris. Probably could have made another dog with that, but there was still ‘mud’ in the fins. Since I had the carpet out, I removed the evaporator cover and hosed it clean...
That said, I think you could just stick filter media there (blower side of evap) relatively easy. Just remove blower to service it a couple times of year?
