Help!
I'm trying to eliminate a road noise. I.E.....like the inner and outer wheel bearings are dry and rolling against the spindle...but it can't be that. I've replaced both inner and outer front bearings on both sides. New rotors and cleaned the spindles and added new grease. Pressed out old races and installed new ones.
This is a 1973 F100 truck with a newly rebuilt 390 and C6 tranny.
I found a long, straight hill, put it in neutral and coasted. Noise still there. Turned the engine off (just for a few seconds) - noise still there.
Question. Is the driveshaft still turning during that nice quiet time with the engine off and in neutral coasting down hill? If so, is it turning any part of the transmission?
Could it be the u-joints? Or the 2-peice drive shaft bearing in the center? I know it's not the torque converter because the engine is not turning over.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thought I'd share some of the work I've done so far. Paint and body is all that is left.
The u joints and center support bearing are all prone to noise when they fail. The u joints tend to squeak and the center support tends to induce a grinding sound or you can feel it in the floor of the truck.
