oil sending switch
i'm working on a 1974 f100 360, c6, 9" rear.
i think i've found the oil pressure sending switch. i believe its on the oil filter spin on mount. is that correct? there is just a plug in it now and the aftermarket gauge is not hooked up nor is the factory one.
also, there is a canister mounted in the core support/passenger side fender area under the hood. there is a hard line that is attached to it and , i think to the fuel tank. what is the can and what does it do?
thanks for any help.
On the canister, I think you'll find it's attached to the frame rail. That's the charcoal canister for the fuel tank evaporative emissions control. There should be two lines to it. A 5/16" line goes to the fuel tank, a 3/4" line goes to the side of the air filter housing.
This sending unit is for a gauge, the unit for a warning light is smaller.
Charcoal canister
as for the canister, thats it! should that have any kind of service done to it, cleaning switching a filter etc? also, was that a cali smog feature? i know the truck was built at the san jose plant.
once again thanks for the help and info. this is a great forum!
