Were 56 vent window frames painted gloss , satin or matt black originally ?
I'm cleaning mine up at the moment ready to paint and fit new glass , but can't tell as there wasn't much paint left on mine .
I painted my front bumper "chassis black" by Zero-Rust and I think it's too "matte" and it still bothers me, so I agree with your point. I also don't really like the semi-gloss frame paints out there. Satin's a good choice.
I just found these pictures of my 55 F350's division bars and vent frames before I painted them. I think they are too rusted to tell if they were gloss or satin.
But what I don't understand is that 53-55 Standard Cabs had black division bars and black wing vent frames while the Deluxe Cabs and the newly named Custom Cab in 55 had stainless division bars and vent frames. But in 56 all trucks, Standard and Custom Cabs, got black division bars. Why? Cost saving move by FORD to offset the cost of the cab changes in 56? I doubt it.
Question: are the 56 wing vent frames stainless or black?
All the ones I have are black , the only stainless I see is about a 2 inch strip where the latch for the vent window locks..I was hoping to dress up this Mercury a little more than the way it came..
Can you get them in Stainless steel...anyone know..?
Yes you can buy the vent window assemblies in stainless .
Complete with glass etc ready to fit for around $560 a pair .
Too expensive for me as they would cost around $900 by the time I got them .
So mine will get a coat of satin black .
