I noticed a bit of blue smoke today, everything is running fine but, when cruising along at a steady slowish speed, around 1500rpm, a bit of blue smoke will start, it gets steadily worse. If I accelerate it will clear & at higher speeds or driving in traffic (on & off the skinny pedal) there's nothing.
I'm thinking a blocked breather, or pcv?
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.
@BigAlsPSD had some blue smoke and had low compression on one cylinder. His blowby check of the oil cap upsidedown on the fill tube showed it hopping a bit.
Other suggestions include a leaking turbo seal, putting some oil in the exhaust.
How does a CCT look on your rig? All cylinders contributing fairly equally?
Any codes?
oil in crankcase not overfull?
Just done a CCT, no 8 failed which I believe is normal, it was exactly the same last time I checked.
Oil level is low, just finished a 300 mile trip pulling my toy hauler this morning, I didn't see any smoke the whole trip.
injector O-rings or turbo possibly?? How many miles ya got on that thing?? I only ask cause of your sig
My truck now has 120k KM's, I'm probably gonna pull the turbo & have a look through everything on the intake, been thinking about upgrading the boots so just do it all in one hit!
