I am hoping, that before I tear the entire front end off my pick-up, someone can point me to a common issue. I have a 99 PSD, 4x4, AOD that seems to have a bit of a (now) cough. When I first noticed it, this issue was like hitting a small bump in the road and that's what I perceived it to be. As the weeks have progressed this 'bump' has turned into a noticeable cough, that causes a long enough loss of power to strain me against my seatbelt before returning to normal operation. Also, the once or twice occurrence on my drive to work, is now a five or six times event. (drive to work is 20 minutes at 70mph). There is no noticeable blip of the check engine light while this occurs, nor is there a dimming of the dash/headlights. Full throttle seems unaffected, however the check engine light will flash at WOT while getting on to the highway (to clarify, the CEL is not an every time thing while getting up to speed). One other issue occurred while trying to silence a chirping serp. belt. I sprayed the serp. belt with a hose to wash the belt dressing off that was doing no good (yes, the harmonic balancer has been replaced and all is well). The engine was running while I did this and then the pick-up was driven about a half mile, to which it died while I was stopped waiting to make a right turn. After approximately 7-10 minutes (and the presence of a local cop), it decided it wanted to run again. Am I chasing a loose/corroded ground, or is there some devious Ford design flaw? ( I've had Fords all my life, love them, but lets be honest...we all know they do some stupid stuff from time to time :-) ).
