Hello, I have a 2019 STX Supercab, and ever since getting it I wanted to install the glossy black B-pillars on the exterior (mine are matte). I found an available part through the Ford website and was wondering if anyone had any good results buying an aftermarket one for cheaper.
The red tool is available at auto parts stores. It’s called a trim tool.
the only parts available aftermarket don’t replace those pillar trim pieces, they cover them. A Google search will show some. I would rather have the matte textured ones as the gloss black trim scratches super easy and shows swirls in the sunlight. I have thought a out ordering an OEM textured set the cutting the opening for the keypad.
That’s a better idea. I’ll have to see if a local vinyl shop will take on such a small job. Or I could probably remove them and try doing it myself.
It was easiest for me to leave them on the truck, and do them in place. The only one I did remove was the drivers door so I could disconnect the keypad.
It's an easy first time project, no complex curves or anything. When I went to apply the vinyl, I took a piece large enough to cover both pillars, squeeged it down, then cut a slit between the two pillars with an exacto knife.
I've gotta do this on my '20 before that plastic starts looking bad.
