6.0 problem

got the typical issue with the 6.0. chugging in overdrive. here is what i have checked and done so far:
new FICM, New IPR sensor and harness, new IPR valve
completed injector bubble test...passed. if I disconnect the batteries, it goes away for a bit but returns quickly. running hot shot in the last oil change. has about 1000 on that oil change.
Where do i go next???

Do you have any tools that read codes or sensor outputs? If not that is the first place to start. Read up on Forscan and the OBD adapter you need. Inexpensive and a requirement to troubleshoot.

I agree with this. I have FORScan lite on my iPhone with a WiFi obd adapter from eBay I bought for $19 and it reads almost all codes. Just diagnosed a transmission TOW/HAUL light flashing over the weekend with that setup. Now you say chugging in OD, mine chugged in OD a couple times and then flashed T/H light on me. Thought it was the motor at first cause it almost fell like a jerking stumble. Ended up being a loose connection on the TCC solenoid inside the tranny. Read your codes and then take it from there.

The other option is to go to a Ford dealer that specializes in diesels. Get a diagnostic check over, then proceed from there.
When ours had a stumble it was most prominent when shifting to high gear. Thought it was transmission related but turned out be a weak injector instead.
A few hours under the hood and a new injector fixed it.

Yes. Not all codes set the check engine light.

Codes

Can you have no codes and still have sensor issues or other startup issues? Thats my current problem.

Very much so.
When you get Forscan, start by posting values like
Battery voltage, ficm volts, ipr%, injector pressure, see if there are any misfire counts.
will go from there

Most codes do not set a CE light. Also not all code readers will pull all the codes. Scangauge for example misses 99 percent of codes set. The obd2 dongle and forscan or torque pro is a solid setup. From the sounds of it you may have 1 failing injector. You can change just one, but I typically do the bank while im in there and dummy plugs/standpipes if 05+. Also if it is injector failure, get a fuel pressure gauge and make sure your staying above 45 psi at wot.

Hi, researching Forscan and other devices. Can you provide a little more on where to pick up a dongle? Can and will any brand name work? I understand the Forscan is a software to download and work with dongle. Is that right?

Amazon or eBay are some sources. Have to determine if you need Bluetooth or WiFi broadcasting.
Apple products use WiFi connections.
Here are some examples.
