I'm looking at two different F250 XL trucks. One is a 2019 holdback/leftover 6.7 4X2. The other is a 2020 4x4 with the 6.2. The 6.2 is backed by 3.73 gears. The only other real difference is one is a STX and the other (the 4x2) is not. I personally could not care one way or the other about 4X4. I'm also not in love with the 6.7 (was thinking of 7.3 originally). Which would you buy? The 2020 is actually about $800 less.
Part of the decision comes down to what are you going to use it for and which one is better equipped to suit your tastes and needs.
This is primarily going to be a daily driver and a tow rig for a small fifth wheel right now. But, planning on going bigger in the future.

Personally I wont own a truck that isn't 4x4.
That pricing is surprising, I know the 6.7l is $9k msrp more, but bieng a 2wd, leftover and non STX, seems like it would come out less.
I was looking at these 2 trucks because they are both SCAB longbeds and 2 of 3 trucks in my budget of under $45K. I'm just not wanting to pay for a bunch of bells and whistles I would hardly ever use. I'm thinking of offering $40K out the door on the 4X2.
I'd agree with most of the above posts, What will fill 90% of it's intended use and drive both
I wanted to stay around the 40k mark and ended up ordering exactly what I wanted, I love the 6.2 & 6spd with 3.73 combo !
@ 30mph in Third Gear I turning around 1850 rpm's perfect for my suburbia drives & stop & go traffic.

I agree 100%. Especially a diesel - I’ve been stuck on flat ground in wet grass with a 2WD diesel - that is NOT happening again. The front end is just too heavy. Given the OP’s original options, all things being equal, 4WD wins.
